After his first album and explosive concerts in 2018 accross France, TAMAYO is currently recording a new EP co-produced by Uprising Music NYC, with media support from Radio France International (RFI.FR). With this new CD coming up in June 2019, TAMAYO wants to reaffirm the essential importance of Salsa in the current avant-guarde music scene.
Since 2011, TAMAYO has realized a musical road-trip through the streets of Barcelona, Cali, Bogotá and Puerto Rico. In 2016 he settles in New York for several months living between the Bronx and the Spanish Harlem. Back in France, TAMAYO releases his first album "Sigue caminando » in 2017, featuring a duo song with Tito Allen. Disc is playlisted at Radio Latina 99 FM and Radio France International (RFI). That same year, Christmas concert broadcasted live and direct from Studio 1 @ RFI, gathered + than 90.000 vues on RFI's Facebook channel, being shared through many associates radios in Latin America.
Settled back in Paris, TAMAYO is currently preparing a new EP album, which will feature arrangements by Grammy-winner Doug Beavers of Tamayo’s own compositions including a cross-over song featuring Colombian hip hop artist, Rocca, from the popular Colombian group, Tres Coronas. These compositions will be recorded in Paris.
Tamayo will also pay tribute to Charlie Palmieri and the Descarga-style of 1960’s Latin music that Charlie pioneered, which ultimately led to the Salsa explosion of the 70s. Tamayo will cross the Atlantic Ocean to record this song with the NYC-based Uprising All Stars; a band led by Jimmy Bosch and made up of musicians hand-picked by 10x Grammy winner, Eddie Palmieri, such as Little Johnny Rivero, Doug Beavers, Luques Curtis, Louis Fouche, Camilo Molina and Jonathan Powell.
The EP will be distributed by NY-based Uprising Music via Philadelphia/South NJ-based Ropeadope Records.
