“Eddie Palmieri: Sweet Sweet Sugar,” a documentary on the Grammy-winning pianist, composer and bandleader who revolutionized salsa and Latin jazz, is currently in production with Emmy-nominated filmmaker Omar Acosta. The film, which will have complete access to Palmieri’s entire music catalogue as well as previously uncirculated archival footage, is being made in cooperation with made with the Eddie Palmieri Estate, with Eddie Palmieri II and Zoilo R. Torres serving as executive producers. It is produced by David Kennedy and Nick Quested through Goldcrest Films, in a co-production with Uprising Music NYC.
