Announcing Uprising Music
Following the acclaimed release of Eddie Palmieri’s latin jazz crossover release, Sabiduria, the team at Palmieri HQ has formed a new model record label and artist management company that carries forward the pioneering spirit of Mr. Palmieri. Uprising Music seeks to cross cultural boundaries and blend styles as a bridge between communities from diverse backgrounds; transmitting traditions through generational evolution. Uprising’s artists come from diverse backgrounds, deeply rooted in the musical culture of the Caribbean and New York City. Urban sounds including jazz, hip-hop, funk and Afro-Caribbean genres are key ingredients in the DNA of these artists, and one can expect recordings and live performances to reflect that diversity while pushing forward to new collaborations and styles. The Uprising Music team includes Eddie Palmieri II, Zoilo R. Torres, and Frank Abenante.
To illustrate the power of Uprising, their first release will be the new album from the vibrant Flamenco and Jazz pianist Alex Conde. A Spaniard, Alex is a graduate in Classical Music from the Jose Iturbi Conservatory of Music in Valencia and in Jazz piano from el Liceu de Barcelona in Spain. He won a scholarship to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he received the Jazz Revelation Award and earned a degree in Jazz Performance in 2009 as well as a Master’s Degree in Piano Jazz Performance at the Aaron Copland Conservatory in New York City. Alex has studied with contemporary jazz luminaries including George Garzone, Danilo Pérez, Dave Santoro, or Grammy Award-winners Joe Lovano, Maria Schneider. His new release, titled Origins, clearly embodies the mission of Uprising, and includes members of the family including Conrad Herwig, Marcus Gilmore, Dayna Stephens, Brian Lynch, Luques Curtis, Ismael Fernandez and Guillermo Barron among others.
