Little Johnny Rivero at Minton's Playhouse - May 17th
On May 17th at the world-renowned Minton's Playhouse in Harlem, legendary percussionist, Little Johnny Rivero, currently the Captain of the Eddie Palmieri rhythm section, headlines the first installment of a summer-long Music Series presented by Uprising Music and Ropeadope.
Minton's, famous for its role in the development of modern Jazz and bebop, where in its jam sessions included Thelonious Monk, Bud Powell, Kenny Clarke, Charlie Christian, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, pioneered the development of Jazz.
Little Johnny has been a professional percussionist for 45 years; with wide range of credits that range from Eddie and Charlie Palmieri, Rubén Blades, Brian Lynch, Conrad Herwig, Dave Valentin, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Tim Ries (Rolling Stones), Donald Harrison, Phil Woods, Kenny G, Bebo Valdes, Paquito D’ Rivera and many other artists.
The two legends combine to bring Minton's a night of Latin Jazz featuring Luisito Quintero, Ivan Renta, Luques Curtis, Zaccai Curtis and Alex Norris.
